The cool, green open houses and canivals
It really makes my day when I see people making an effort to go green.
At open houses and carnivals and the like, you can only imagine the amount of materials that are wasted on decorations, food wrappers, signs and feedback and registration forms.
At Temasek Junior College’s open house today, I really felt the green movement. More recycling bins were placed(no even indicrminate rubbish in it), All the signs had been previously used before and perhaps many times before. And even the decorations were made from recycled materials like those little windmills like things placed aroung the school made from old magazine paper, and students had even used newspapers as the backgrounds for their signs and posters.
It looked pretty good, I should say, and all they had used were oil pastels, 2 photos and some remains of wrapping paper to create a scarpbook effect. Rather unique and refreshing compared to the usual print-outs. The only thing used in large amounts were environmentally friendly effort and tons of creativity.
Kudos to those who make the effort and place the environment over convenience. And I must commend their efforts, for there was not an inch of styrofoam in sight.
