ASEAN Food Security Conference

June 17, 2010
by

Heather and I are at the ASEAN Conference on Food Security right now. It’s a 3-day event covering issues related to food security in the ASEAN region. So far, there have been speakers who have highlighted the importance of climate change on food security and that’s pretty interesting to hear, especially from a rice trader/food statistician/economist point of view 🙂

Attending the opening ceremony of the Conference (L-R): H.E. S. Pushpanathan, Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN and Conference Chairman; H.E. Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of National Development, Singapore; and Ms. Barbara Krell, Deputy Director of USAID's Regional Development Mission in Asia

I will definitely write more on this when the conference has wrapped up tomorrow, so as to give a better overview about the conclusions of this conference. In the meantime, you can visit their blog at at http://aseanfoodsecurity.wordpress.com for updates!
