UN to review climate panel

An independent board of scientists will be appointed to review the world’s top climate science panel, which has been accused of sloppy work, a UN cliamte spokesperson said yesterday.
The IPCC came under fire after it was revealed that one of its 2007 reports wrongly included a prediction that the Himalayan glaciers could vanish by 2035 instead of the correct figure of 2350. This has caused global climate scepticism.
The panel will be fully independent and not appointed by the IPCC. There is also talk on putting a ban on “grey literature”, or non-peer reviewed science.
