Anew – COP15

December 31, 2009

I wrote to Threadless (the American tee shirt company) awhile back, asking if they would be interested in producing a tee shirt in support of the fight against climate change. I’m still awaiting a reply after a series of correspondence, and will send out another email just in case mine has been lost in the Christmas flurry.

Anyway, one of my lines was, ‘the fight for climate change does not stop at Copenhagen, and Copenhagen merely heralds the beginning of a global climate change revolution‘.

That seems very true at this point, given the slew of post-COP15 events that are taking place, and events that ECO will be organising (stay tuned for that!).

Seemingly one of the first events to kick off 2010, will be Post-COP15 Reflections: System Change, Not Climate Change.

This is a workshop organised by some Singaporean youth representatives who attended COP15, and they will be sharing their ‘vision, inspirations, thoughts and experiences about the latest on global climate change, UN climate change negotiations, and its relevance to Singapore and youths, as well as pave a way forward with a new vision to engage local student communities’. There will also be some peeks of their interactions with Al Gore, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, Prof Wangari Maathai (the newly appointed United Nations Messenger of Peace), Yann Arthus-Bertrand (film producer of HOME) and their participation in the largest climate demonstration in the world thus far.

Very last minute I know, but should you be interested in joining me there, here are the details:

Date: 2 Jan 2010, Saturday
Time: 1100hrs to 1500hrs (lunch break from 1300-1400hrs)
Venue: Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities, School of Design and Environment, NUS, Level 4

To be really honest, I’m not sure how open this workshop is. But I daresay any attempt to spread the messages learnt is a good one, and I’d chew the head off the organisers if they’re kicking people out.

For logistical purposes, leave a comment with your email address if you’re interested, just so I can run a check with the organisers!

Writing from Singapore
Eileen
